Robert Case

Robert R. Case, 91, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas died on Monday, April 23, 2012 with his family by his side. Robert was born in Mountain View, AR, December 05, 1920 to the late Charles and Myrtle Case of Vienna, Il. During Roberts's youth his family lived in various communities within the state of Arkansas including Woodson, England and Batesville before moving back to Mountain View. In 1934, his family moved to Houston and Montgomery City, MO. He graduated High School in Anna, IL in 1938. Robert attended Southern Illinois University prior to joining the United States Army Air force in 1942. During WWII he served as a B-17 bombardier and was shot down while on a bombing mission over Germany. He was held as a prisoner of War for 18 months in Barth, Germany. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart. Robert returned to the States in 1945 and married Elizabeth (Bette) Heaton of West Frankfort, IL. Robert began his career in the timber business operating Stave Mills in Vandalia and Olney, IL. Robert later formed Tri County Lumber Company with his brother Charles R. Case Jr. manufacturing staves and lumber in 1953 in Flora, IL. After having sold Tri-County Lumber Company to Blue Grass Cooperage Companies of Louisville, KY, Robert and Bette moved to Hot Springs Village, AR. Robert was a Master Mason, a Shriner, a member of National Sojourners and a member of the Evening Lions of HSV. As a lifelong Methodist, Robert was a dedicated member of the Village United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer, an artist, a wood craftsman and history enthusiast. Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Case, one son Robert R. Case (Ridge) Jr. One sister; Angie Case Williamson and one brother Charles R. Case. Robert is survived by his wife of twelve years Evelyn T. Case, two daughters; Cathy A. Case and husband Robert K. Rodweller of Silver Springs, MD; and daughter Elizabeth Jane Berault of Hot Springs Village, AR; and one daughter-n-law Barbara L. Case of Houston, TX; grandchildren Elizabeth Sweeney of the Netherlands, Andrew Craig and partner Mark Bunyun of London, England and Jillian Jalbert of Houston, TX, Andrew Berault of Fayetteville, AR, James Berault of Austin, TX and Casey Rodweller of Baltimore, MD. He is survived by three great grandchildren; Claire and Adelaide Sweeney and Henry Jalbert. His extended family includes Catherine and John Clinger, Sarah, Tim and Evelyn Fite of Richmond, VA and Emily Clinger of St. Louis, MO. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4PM-7PM at CedarVale Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Friday at 10:00 AM at the Village United Methodist Church and will be officiated by Rev. Tom Jarrell, Rev. George McCoy and Rev. George Tanner. Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Sanford Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103 or a charity of your choice.
